Update:

Some asked me about the tools I used during the presentation.

To make use of Microformats in browsers - for Firefox only the Tails Extension (extendable with scripts) - then the cross-browser bookmarklet from leftlogic. Another bookmarklet to display XFN and links with rel attribute.

The tool to make the screen zoom during the demos is called OmniDazzle - it provides a nice function to ad-hoc zoom a certain part of the screen that allows even people in the back of the room to see what you are talking about. Here a picture in action with the XFN bookmarklet in zoom.

Die Wechselwirkung zwischen traditionellen Medien und der unabhängigen Meinungsbildung über Blogs sei in politischen Themen in der Schweiz vernachlässigbar (und werde das wohl auch noch länger bleiben).

Interessante Aussage - der Grund - so kam aus mehrere Diskussionen an den 5. Bieler Kommunikationstage heraus sei die "unabhängig Experten Kultur" welche in der Schweiz die Medienlandschaft beherrscht. In Länder mit parteiischen Medien - USA wurde genannt mit Foxnews als republikanisches Sprachrohr vs. MSNBC sei der Antrieb aus dem Volk sich unabhängig über alternative Quellen zu informieren grösser.

Ob sich das mit der schleichenden Personifizierung der Politik in der Schweiz ändern wird? Diese wurde mehrfach von Seiten Politik mit Seitenhieb an die Medien als demokratisch problematisch bezeichnet.

Ein Tag - ein Wort: Permanent campaigning. Oder auch "Demokratie im Dauerstress" (Regula Stämpfli) - Politik mit dauernder Medienpräsenz und populärer Agenda.

Das Wort "Blog" und "Blogosphere" wurde während es Morgens der 5. Bieler Kommunikationstage mindestens 40 mal gesagt. Mich hätte wunder genommen wie viel Leute im Raum genau wissen was gemeint ist, wenn diese Wörter verwendet werden. Der Einfluss der Blogs auf die Politik in der Schweiz würde ich mal auf - minimal bis nicht vorhanden - bezeichnen. Anders wenn man mit den USA vergleicht - wo inzwischen die Blogger Themen aufbringen und die Politiker und traditionellen Medien dazu zwingen darauf zu Antworten (und nicht umgekehrt). Natürlich mischen sich inzwischen dort die Politiker selber unter die Blogger womit sich nicht mehr genau trennen lässt wer was sagt.

Es wird spannend zu sehen wie die Schweizer Parteien die Blogs für den bevorstehenden Wahlkampf für die Nationalratswahlen 2007 nutzen werden. Viel wollten die Parteichefs wahrend dem Politikpanel uns nicht erzählen - noch steht definitiv die traditionelle Medienkommunikation im Vordergrund. Es ist wohl an den Blogger den ersten Schritt zu machen - um die Parteien und Politiker dazu zu bringen den politischen Dialog mit dem Volk verstärkt im Internet zu führen. Es wäre ja wünschenswert wenn die Kommunikation direkter wird - und vor allem die Möglichkeit besteht für jeden im Dialog mitzumachen.

Bin auf dem Weg nach Biel - heute ist der 2te Tag der 5. Bieler Kommunikationstage - kurz Comdays. Doch mal kurz checken was so über den gestrigen Tag (war nicht dort) geschrieben wurde.. hm.. nix zu finden. Dabei stand doch einiges auf der Agenda. Die Jungs sollten sich ein Vorbild an Namics+Zeix nehmen, die gestern einen Search & Usability Event gemacht haben - und Slides plus Kommentare ab ins Web. Bravo.

Anyway.. mal schauen ob die Comdays 1.5 doch was hergeben was in der 2.0 Welt erwähnenswert ist.

It's interesting to observe what people are doing with their mobile phone - for example in public transport. Writing SMS is for sure on the top of the list followed by getting a call. Interesting is the use of the mobile phone as crappy replacement for a - what we by the time called ghetto-blaster. Hanging around in the streets and using the mobile phone to share the latest tunes with friends. If only the "speakers" wouldn't sound so bad when they play at full volume.

Searching local information - phone numbers, upcoming events, location recommendations with maps is a need that quite some companies are investing in. The car navigation producers are making mobile phone versions of their software (solutions are bundled with a GPS receiver). They are good in routing but usually not very good on the content side. Local search providers have been gearing up their mobile offerings - now where a lot of phones with GPRS+ and XHTML/Java run-time infrastructure are in the hands of the users.

At local.ch we made a XHTML version - m.local.ch - of the phone book and event search available in July 2006. The last few months we have been working with Endoxon to create a more advanced solution using J2ME technology. This allows us to do more with the map - zooming & panning - displaying multiple results - read GPS position.

Other interesting mobile clients you might want to check-out - the Google Mobile Maps or the Nokia Mobile Search (for some S60 phones only).
