How to develop complex web application (AJAX, XSS, mobile...) and keep testing time short? Continues automated UI testing! On hourly bases! Aiii.. that sounds expensive!

Doesn't have to be. Patrice is going to share this knowledge about how we at local.ch are using the open-source tool Selenium to keep QA time and resources to a minium.

Feel free to join-in: http://www.webtuesday.ch/meetings/20060912

Not around Zurich (Switzerland)? Patrice had a similar presentation a few weeks ago - get the slides here.

BarCamp in your neighbourhood - Zurich

What some uber-geeks have started in the Valley is coming to Zurich. Some guys from the ETH in Zurich are setting up the stage for an one day social geek gathering end of October. The BarCamp idea defines itself as "an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees." Learn more about what BarCamp is.

I'm going to be there and either talk about Microformats, OpenID or local.ch... depending what the boys and girls like to hear.

More details see the BarCamp Zurich Wiki - see you there!

Microformats Essentials Speech

I'm right now at the Namics t.camp (2 day internal tech camp). Namics is a larger Swiss Internet Consulting Company. I had the pleasure to show the crowd some basic stuff about Microformats and Structured Blogging. It's basically an introduction into the topic of publishing semantic markup language.

You can download the slides here as Flash (originally created in Keynote). Note that I use slides only to visualize what I'm talking about.. so the slides are not full of bullet point lists, further I did quite some live demos (links are in the presentation)
