Webtuesday: OpenID - distributed authentication

openid

How many passwords can you remember? Sick of creating accounts on every new Web 2.0 site? What Microsoft tried with Passport a few years ago has been reinvented in a distributed fashion and in a way everybody can use it - open source. It's called OpenID.

I'm going to host a presentation and discussion about OpenID and distributed web authentication on January 9th 2007 - 19:30 at the local.ch office.

Did you allready now Shibboleth? I think is something real powerfull, but also a bit more complicated. The swiss universities will use this one to authentifcate students from other universities.

By the way your picture is good (I still haven't a flickr account), but the "Strichmändli" is not so cool and perhaps it's not even needed. See you on tuesday!
