Piece of advice: Manage your brand wisely!
The idea dates back more than 7 years - and I guess you already have seen this - watch this movie (it's in German):
Start looking around to buy this device for helping a person to walk (name in patent), you will soon figure out that this product has at least 7 names, is produced by at least 4 companies and has an uncountable amount sites (mostly with 1997 web design) that are offering various models and different pricing. It somehow looks like nobody is really owning this thing. Some sites mention that they further developed the jumping stilts to be more comfortable and less maintenance intensive.
Confusing.
This idea looks to me like a good ground to build up a nice business. Central engineering, brand management and online community building - 3rd party production under license and distribution with partners (only direct channel with large online retailers like Amazon). I believe their are enough sport geeks world-wide that would spend some money to enjoy the promised feeling - if they would be sure they are buying the right thing (= the magic mix between a brand to trust and being sure getting the latest technology).
Wikipedia has a good sum-up (in German) - and customers talking about the issue at poweriserpages.com
About the Zurich Ad: They are in the business to insure companies to make an idea a world-wide selling success - well - obviously something went wrong! I don't blame Zurich - they most certainly only needed the device to visualise their ad message and didn't had real business with the guys involved in engineering, producing and selling it.
